About the artist
Maia Friend is an autodidact artist living and working in Berlin. On the move since birth and having spent the majority of her life traveling light, she enjoys creating work that is thoroughly impractical. She currently works predominantly with paper, ink, and found objects.
Friend’s visual work is informed by her experience as a tattooist, her time spent apprenticing under a botanist, and her exploration of the visceral reactions she has to anything old, useless, and beautiful.
