Die künstlerische Arbeit "Subaquatik_Spree“ entstand im Rahmen der Kunstaktion Fishing for Future, die über einen Zeitraum von 8 Wochen im Sommer 2023 im öffentlichen Raum am Ufer des James-Simon-Parks in Berlin stattfand. In diesem höchst repräsentativen Abschnitt der Spree, weißt Das Wasser die höchsten Verschmutzungswerte der Stadt auf.

Während der Kunstaktion stand auch die Auseinandersetzung mit der Plastiklobby im Fokus, die die Interessen der Kunststoffindustrie vertritt und durch Lobbyarbeit politische Entscheidungen beeinflusst, um die Profite der Branche zu maximieren und regulatorische Maßnahmen zu verhindern, die das Geschäft beeinträchtigen könnten. Ein konkretes Beispiel für die Verbindung zwischen der Plastiklobby und Gesetzen über den Plastikverbrauch ist die Lobbyarbeit gegen ein Verbot von Einwegplastiktüten in vielen Ländern.Die Lobbygruppen der Kunststoffindustrie setzen dabei auf verschiedene Strategien.
Die Künstlerin thematisiert in ihren Lumenprints die Präsenz von Plastik im Wasser und betont die individuelle Verantwortung im Umgang mit dieser wichtigen Ressource. Durch ihre Werke und Kunstaktionen möchte sie die Betrachter dazu anregen, ihre Beziehung zum Wasser und der natürlichen Umwelt zu reflektieren.

Kristina Popov is an interdisciplinary artist who has been living and working in Berlin since 2020.
Her works delve deeply into the emotional and visual memory, exploring the concept of traces as manifestations of past experiences. The main focus lies on water as a fundamental element. She examines its diverse properties and significance for human life and the environment. Water is not only a vital resource but also symbolizes change and transformation in her works. Using analog techniques and water as a medium, she establishes direct interaction with the viewer, aiming to raise awareness about the fragility of nature.She calls for a more conscious approach to this precious resource and for measures to be taken to protect water. Through her work and art actions, she wants to inspire people to reflect on their relationship with water and to take action to preserve the natural environment.
