Matthias Zinn was born in Tegernsee, Germany. He studied architecture at Lübeck Technical University and painting at Berlin University of the Arts (UdK).
He completed his studies in 1993 with a master's degree. He lives and works in Berlin and Kremmen (Brandenburg).
Matthias Zinn has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including:
Spektrale 11, curated by Herbert Schirmer, Wildau, Germany, 2024, Cambio – das Werk im Wechsel, Kunstmuseum St. Gallen, Switzerland, 2020, Ambigu – Zeitgenössische Malerei zwischen Abstraktion und Narration, Kunstmuseum St. Gallen, Switzerland, 2010, as well as regular solo exhibitions at the renowned Swiss gallery Mai 36, Zurich.
In 2023, he received the Pollock Krasner Foundation Grant, New York, USA, and from 2020 to 2022, scholarships from the Kunstfonds Stiftung, Bonn, the Kulturwerk Stiftung der VG-Bildkunst, Bonn, and the Senate Department for Culture and Europe.
