    About the artist

Julia Ludwig initially studied painting at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle (graduating in 2009), then turned to etching during her master class studies and completed her studies in 2011 with postgraduate studies/master class studies under Prof. Ute Pleuger and Prof. Rainer Schade.
Her works, mainly in the media of etching and hand drawing, show
concrete observations, mostly landscape depictions. Her interest lies in the transitions where the representational, sometimes overly precise elaboration of the motifs abruptly breaks into the symbolic.
She has received numerous scholarships. Her work is represented in the collection of the Anita and Günther Lichtenstein Foundation and in the graphic collection of the Lindenau Museum in Altenburg, among others.
She lives and works in Berlin.
